The Situation

Many Kenyan businesses started with email from their web hosting provider - a practical decision at the time. cPanel email works for basic sending and receiving, but it was never designed for business collaboration.

How to migrate

cPanel is the easiest self-service migration. Connect your cPanel IMAP server in the Migrations dashboard, upload your mailbox list, and Mailza syncs everything in the background. Your email history is preserved and addresses stay the same.

Create a Project

Log in to your Mailza dashboard, go to Migrations, and start a new migration project. Choose self-service or request assisted migration.

Connect Your Source

Enter your current provider's IMAP details or upload a CSV of mailboxes. Mailza begins syncing email in the background immediately.

Monitor Progress

Watch per-mailbox sync progress in real time. Historical email is copied before you change a single DNS record - zero disruption.

Cut Over DNS

When sync is complete, update your MX records to point to Mailza. New email flows in instantly. Your history is already there.

Done

Staff reconnect their email clients using the same addresses. Assisted plan customers get hands-on support throughout.

Questions we hear most often

"Can I do this myself or do I need your team?"

Both options are available. The self-service migration tool in your dashboard lets you connect your current provider and sync mailboxes without any help from us. If you prefer, our team handles everything on Medium, Large, and Enterprise plans.

"Will we lose email history?"

No. Mailza syncs your full email history before you change any DNS records. By the time you cut over, everything is already in your new mailboxes.

"Will there be downtime?"

None. The sync runs in the background while your current email keeps working. You only update your MX records when you are ready - and that switch takes effect in minutes.

"Do staff need new logins and apps?"

Email addresses stay the same. Staff can continue using Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or their existing mobile apps - Mailza supports all standard protocols.

"We are not technical - can we still manage this?"

Yes. The self-service tool is designed to be straightforward, and our support team is available if you get stuck. Assisted migration is also available if you would rather hand it off entirely.
